poor choice for use with Linux. Leaving it at the default

failure, not to mention the performance impact of the
drive often having to wake-up before doing routine I/O.

это из параметров линуксовой утилиты hdparm

и у WD умеет слипом управлять, а вот у некоторых сигейтов парковка неотключаема - только воркараунды типа читать какой-то файлик раз в 8 секунд
