After a life of living in the Arctic, this was one of the most beautiful situations I have seen. Since I was a kid, I have always watched the white backs of beluga whales barely break the surface as they traveled along the Baffin Island coast. New technology is allowing us new glimpses into old behavior that has been going on for thousands of years. Beluga whales gather by the thousands in the shallows to moult, care for their young and hide from predators like orcas.
