We regret to inform you that ED visas will not be granted to language school students for the time being.

This was confirmed yesterday over an important meeting with a top official at the Ministry of Education from the Office of Private Education.

In a bid to help our students and get some answers, we formed an alliance with other language schools last week which helped make this meeting possible.

The Ministry of Education fully supported us and with their help, we were able to make a call over a speaker phone to a top official at immigration.

Unfortunately, they cited national security reasons and made it clear that ED visas will not be granted to language school students for the time being.

If you are currently based overseas, our advice is to stay closely in touch with the Thai embassy or consulate closest to you for the latest updates.  The ED visa should be available once flight restrictions are eased.  Unfortunately, this will also depend on how well your country of residence is dealing with the pandemic.

If you are in Thailand and already have an ED visa in your passport, you may be able to extend your stay by an additional 4 months (12 months in total).  Please contact us or bring your passport to our school for further details.

If you are in Thailand and do not have an ED visa, these are your options:

1.  Contact your embassy and request for a letter stating that it's difficult for you to return to your country.  You will then need to submit this letter to immigration at Muang Thong Thani (NOT Chaeng Wattana) to apply for an extension.

2.  There are many agencies offering the medical or volunteer visa.  This is an under table option which comes at a price.

3.  Wait for the next official announcement which will likely fall on 21 September.  Like the previous announcements that came at the very last minute, there is a rumor that there may be another extension.  Please do NOT take this as a confirmation.

Once again, we apologize that nothing more can be done.  We have tried our best and have spoken to top officials both from the Ministry of Education and immigration.  It is a very difficult time for language schools in Bangkok and some have closed down.

Thailand's tourism industry won't recover from Covid-19 for many years, says top Thai bank

They said it could be 4 years before things get back to anything like normal...

But perhaps the most dire prediction was that a full recovery of tourism in Thailand - that was formerly around 20% of the nation's GDP - is three to four years away.

60% of tourism businesses in Thailand face closure, workforce’ income slashed by 47%

Around 60 percent of businesses operating in the travel and tourism sector in Thailand could be forced to close permanently due to the impact from COVID-19, according to a new study by the Asia Foundation.

The Thai economy is showing early signs of a severe and prolonged contraction that will rival the Asian Financial Crisis of the late 1990s ...
( тот самый "Tom Yam Kung crisis",  который потом аукнулся в РФ кризисом 98г )

A report by Sophon TV revealed that scores of business had shut and that for sale/rent signs were all over the resort ...

Condo market devastated by pandemic

travel restrictions meant that 98% of potential buyers couldn't get to Thailand. Most of these were Chinese people from the mainland and investors from Hong Kong.
10,000 units had only been partially paid for and instalments had ceased during the pandemic.
In many cases 30% had been paid and 70% was due but not coming.
