Bram:

For custody we have rate limited wallets which can be clawed back in there entirety by a secondary key, the intended use case being that if you get hacked you want to limit your exposure while still not having to your cold storage wallet under normal circumstances

We're also building slow paper wallets, which is sort of the opposite thing where if someone gets their hands on your paper wallet and tries to steal your funds with it you can stop them as long as your hardware wallet boots up during the grace period

Bram:

We also have coloured coins which combine the best aspects of Omni (every coloured coin is a real coin on the chain and can support its own smart transactions) with ERC20 (light clients can verify coloured coins aren't fake)
And our coloured coins have this very subtle but important property that they support truly decentralized exchange
side note: Chia natively supports unlimited flash loans from god. I can explain more about that and truly decentralized exchange if people are interested

We're also supporting DID contracts with our first application of it being DID recovery which works even if some of the recoverers have done a recovery themselves in the meantime, later supporting all manner of DID identities having delegated permissions which allow them to do smart transactions

Some of the details of pool switching have yet to be hashed out, but the fundamental trick is that you make a smart coin which specifies what your pool currently is and whenever you switch pools you have to spend that coin to a new one, that way pools can audit that you really are allocating your space to them and not anybody else or yourself

Bram:
Ah yes, flash loans from god. Within the scope of a single transaction or block in Chia all the outputs have an input and the sum of the sizes of the outputs needs to equal the sum of the sizes of the inputs, but parents don't directly give value to their children, that's a more holistic thing. So it's completely normal if you're making a payment with several
Gene:
which is also why we chose BLS
(amongst even more reasons)
Bram:
The flash loans from god are that you can have an ephemeral coin the size of the sun so long as it burns out within the same block. So if you want a flash loan you simply conjure it into existence and as long as you can get your business to finish and pay it off with no time lag you're good

Gene:
In Ethereum you have to actually borrow money from some smart contract that may or may not loan it to you - to complete a complex transaction
In Chia you just conjure the temporary money you need into existence
and as long as the final transaction all adds up
it works

For example, I can send out a transaction that says, I'll take 15XCH for 1 Coloured Tesla share backed by Fidelity
and if you think it's a good deal, all you have to do is make the other half of the transaction and submit it

Can I setup a smart contract to send my spouse my chia if I die? A deadmans brake contract ?
Bram:
I have to give a very pedantic answer to that question. A person dying is an oracle. In practice what you're describing can be implemented either by having a trusted party who holds the keys to move your money to your heir if you die, or your heir can have wallet which is always trying to jack your funds but only succeeds if your wallet hasn't moved funds in t

Bram:
Chialisp requires a somewhat different way of thinking about programming than people are used to. It's a language designed to be audited and is very extreme in having very careful control of side effects. There are now several people who understand the basic concepts in it and have more practical experience than I do implementing in it and it's best to get ins

In PoSaT the space is the hero of the show and the time is a necessary supporting character. What you want is Nakamoto consensus where you can compare different blockchains and go with the one which has greater weight. The problem with proofs of space is also their strength: It doesn't take any effort to do them (once you have a plot) For that reason there are

Gene:
Sure - it turns out that our VDF construction (squaring in class groups of unknown order) is FPGA hard - or we would be holding an FPGA contest right now

Bram:
A somewhat easier to explain attack than grinding is long range attacks. If you have, say, 10% of the network capacity today but the network has been growing fast and you'd have had 90% of the capacity starting two months ago, it shouldn't be possible for you to redo the last few years of history and make a blockchain whose total weight is greater than the leg

Gene:
but together with ETH-2, we're going to partner with Supranational and get some R&D silicon in the next 9 months that implements our VDF as fast as humanely possible. Could be a 10x to 20x speedup over the current i9 Gen 10

Gene:
in current consensus, 41% of the space can launch the equivalent of a 51% BTC attack
that's going up to 51% in new consensus in most situations

Gene:
@PsyDafKe we will be buying the new AMD, but AVX-512 optimizations really favor Intel and the next Intel proc (IFMA)

@Haitch we looked at a lot of penalizing schemes and the bottom lines is their too easy for assholes to penalize honest people with them

Gene:
and we'll sell the ASICs dirt cheap on our website
lose money on every one
