PM ANNOUNCES COVID-19 CLOSURES, RESTRICTIONS AND TRAVEL LOCKDOWN IN MALAYSIA (BM VERSION)
The government decided to implement motion control orders, from 18 March 2020, which is the day after tomorrow until 31 March 2020, across the country. This control order is made under the prevention and control act of infectious disease 1988 and the police act 1967. This movement control command includes;
First, a comprehensive ban on movement and public assembly across the country including religious, Sports, social and culture activities. To enforce this ban, all business houses and business premise should be closed, except for supermarkets, public markets, retail stores and shop stores that sell daily needs. Especially for Muslims, delay all religious activities in mosque and surau including Friday prayers are in line with the committee meeting results
Special Muzakarah that has been convened on 15 March 2020.
Second, a comprehensive restriction of all Malaysian trips abroad. For those who have just returned from overseas, they are wanted to undergo a health check and do a voluntary (or self-quarantine) quarantine for 14 days;
Third, the inclusion of all tourists and foreign visitors into the country;
Fourth, closing of all nursery, government and private schools including daily schools, full boarding schools, International Schools, tahfiz centers and other low, secondary and pre-University education institutions;
Fifth, closing all high education institutions (IPT) public and private
As well as skill training institute across the country; and
Sixth, the closing of all government and private premise except those involved with the important service of the country (or essential services) which is water, electrical, energy, telecommunications, post, transportation, irrigation, oil, gas, fuel, Lube, broadcast, finance, banking, Health, pharmacy,
Fire, prison, port, airport, safety, defense, cleaning, retail and food supply.
