Red Cross opens help-line for people in home isolationThe Red Cross (Rode Kruis) has opened its help-line for people who are self-isolating at home during the Coronavirus crisis. Anyone who needs help of any kind can call +31 (0) 70 44 55 888 from 09:00 this morning. As reported by RTV Drenthe.
“We are offering a listening ear, advice, or another head to think about practical problems and how to solve them in people’s own social network. If that’s not available then we will see if you trained network of volunteers of our social help network Rode Kruis Ready2Help can assist, of whether we can forward people on to the correct institutions to help”, said the Red Cross.
From its own research, the Red Cross has predicted that elder people and those with long-term health complaints might be highly affected by the quarantine and social distancing measures. This could be in terms of doing groceries, or help cooking. The organisation has lots of people available to lend a helping hand if needed.
But, the Red Cross has also emphasised that people need to listen to trustable sources for news, such as the WHO, RIVM, and the Red Cross itself. The organisation has also suggested that people do not over-drink alcohol in the coming weeks, and find a way to stay active at home.
