Dutch Medical Society for Intensive Care releases list of patient-types that will be denied access to intensive care when the Netherlands is at full Intensive Care capacity
Current list (will be expanded, if needed):
- Cardiac arrest patients, with late to no-reanimation
- Severe trauma patients, with risk of death exceeding 90%
- Severe burn victims, with risk of death exceeding 90%
- Serious and irreparable brain disorder patients
- Metastatic cancer patients, including leukemia patients with low life expectancy
- Organ failure victims with a low life expectancy
- Immunocompromised patients with a low life expectancy (including HIV patients)
- People who cannot function without direct daily care (think washing, clothing, feeding)
- Terminally ill patients
