"же" can act as an intensifying particle, very often sentences with "же" might be intended to sound emotional. By introducing "же" you can stress the self explanatory meaning as well.
Compare:

Там люди - "people are there"
Там же люди - people are there (exclamation mark is assumed, it's more emotional. Also, it means, that whatever this fact "people are there!" might mean, the speaker assumes the context is evident, that for people the situation is extraordinary and wrong "people are there! (you can not throw the bomb there) )
