- 50 000 new cases reported since Christmas Eve
- New cases in Gauteng, Eastern Cape, KwaZulu-Natal and Western Cape.
- New variant of Covid-19 in (South Africa 501.v2).
- Rise of case is being caused by super spreader events.
- Extreme lack of vigilance amongst South Africans over the festive season.
- Excessive alcohol consumption is driving up trauma cases in hospitals
- Healthcare workers are exhausted
*COUNTRY TO ENTER LEVEL 3 LOCKDOWN*
*_Effective midnight 28 December_*
Until 15 January 2021
*_Four reason for level 3:_*
1) Minimise the risk of super spreader events even further
2)Decrease unsafe interactions between people
3) Increase implementation of prevention (social distancing, mask, hand hygiene, symptom checking, testing)
4) Decrease the burden on healthcare resources
*Level 3 regulations:*
* All indoor and outdoor social gatherings prohibited
* Funeral kept to 50 people
* Businesses must adjust work force and patrons as per regulations
* Nation wide curfew from 6am to 9pm
* Non essential establishments must close at 8pm (list to be released shortly)
*_Every individual will be held legally liable for wearing a mask_*
Anyone not wearing a mask in a public place could be arrested and prosecuted (imprisonment for up to 6 months)

🍺*Sale of alcohol from retail outlets or restaurants is prohibited*
Level 3 will let the economy remain open but will strengthen the preventative measures.
