Mladen Dolar is a senior research fellow in the department of philosophy at the University of Ljubljana in Slovenia, and a writer on a huge array of cultural topics. Along with Slavoj Žižek and Rastko Močnik, he was one of the founders in the late 1970s of the association popularly known as the “Ljubljana School of Psychoanalysis.” The aim of this group is to combine German idealist philosophy, theoretical Marxism and Lacanian psychoanalysis into an instrument for grappling with the contemporary world. Dolar’s works in English include Opera’s Second Death (co-authored with Slavoj Žižek and published in 2001) and A Voice and Nothing More (2006). His next book, The Riskiest Moment, is forthcoming from Duke University Press.

In the 2010s, Bolsonaro played a major role in the anti-PT spectacle. He voiced the far-right view that ‘the communists’ were ruining the country and trying to turn it into a second Cuba or Venezuela. He once threatened to hit a (female) journalist for being asked something he didn’t like; and in a parliamentary discussion on the penal code he yelled at PT congresswoman Maria do Rosário that she was too ugly to be raped. On another occasion, he described members of ex-slave black communities in terms alluding to the cattle market. As he declared his ‘yes’ vote in the 2016 impeachment process, he praised a known torturer, calling him ‘Dilma Rousseff’s terror’, in allusion to the fact that she had been involved in the short-lived armed struggle against the dictatorship in the 1960s, and had been arrested and tortured.

Much has been written about the “future of work,” and much of it makes for gloomy reading. Study after study predicts that automation will upend entire industries and leave millions unemployed. A 2013 paper by two Oxford professors even suggested that machines could replace 47% of jobs in the United States within “a decade or two.”

Завершилась ли она хотя бы в той сфере, что основана исключительно на учреждающей тавтологии «business is business»?

Выявляя предпосылки воображаемой антропологии, свойственной теории экономики в ее господствующем определении, Пьер Бурдье в этой работе требует создать другую теорию, которая порвала бы с идеей индивидуальных решений, свободных от любых ограничений, и заменила бы понятие чистого и совершенного рынка понятием экономического поля, структурированного силовыми отношениями и символической борьбой.

Таким образом, он показывает, не обращаясь к рассчитывающему и абсолютно прозрачному сознанию homo economicus или же к логике «ограниченной рациональности», что «разумный» характер большинства разновидностей экономического поведения можно объяснить согласованием субъективных надежд и объективных возможностей.

In March 2018, a major crisis erupted around an obscure political consulting firm called Cambridge Analytica.It was discovered that the firm had acquired the private data of millions of Facebook users and was putting it to the service of its clients in political campaigns. The revelations attracted attention in part because the company is owned by a conservative political donor, Robert Mercer, but more importantly, because it raised important questions about privacy and surveillance on the internet.And this in turn has profound implications about the place of the media in contemporary capitalism. We talked to leading media scholar Robert McChesney about these and related issues.

The end of 2018 and the beginning of 2019 was marked by a wave of mass anti-government protests in Belgrade. The direct cause for the first protest held on December 8th was the attack on the leader of the Serbian Left, Borko Stefanović, ahead of a forum of the newly formed coalition of the opposition parties, Alliance for Serbia, in the City of Kruševac. The first protest was organized by the Alliance under the banner “Stop to Bloody Shirts”. After the crowd expressed its dissatisfaction with the proposals to continue protests after the New Year break, the organization of the protest was taken over by an allegedly independent and non-party group of citizens.

Давид Хумарян - Утопия «гибкого мира»: политика гибких производственных режимов

В статье предлагается развернутое описание и социологический анализ теорий гибких производственных режимов: исследуются социально-исторические условия их производства, теоретическая эволюция основных концепций и политического содержания. Автор принимает в качестве необходимой предпосылки исследования положение о том, что большинство современных теорий, в которых «гибкость» используется в качестве основной концептуальной единицы, восходят к теории гибкой специализации производства. Гибкая специализация как экономическое явление и как научная парадигма политической экономии появилась в середине 1980-х годов и служила теоретическим обоснованием для политических мер по дерегуляции рынка. Автор показывает, что отдельные гибкие экономические режимы, которые рассматриваются в теории гибкой специализации в качестве доказательной базы, в сущности складывались под действием политической воли, мер государственного протекционизма и процесса диверсификации крупного промышленного капитала. Несмотря на этот факт, «методологический пуризм» в исследованиях гибких режимов продолжал доминировать, и концепция гибкой специализации получила дальнейшее развитие в экономической социологии и организационной теории. По мере своего развития данное направление исследований постепенно заражалось политическими импликациями в манифесте постиерархических организаций Зубофф можно легко разглядеть позитивную политическую программу.
