в принципе - сейчас, в 2020, все просто. анализируй имеющиеся инструменты, собирай с них все лучшее, выкидывай все сложное, неочевидное и ненужное. и получится норм) но на практике конечно возникают трудности... да и не хватает широты охвата

Это ещё почему? Мы за то, чтобы разделить массив/строку в ключе, а не за то, чтобы что-то делать с тем, откуда мы получаем...

Доброе утро! А эта штука в рабочем состоянии? https://github.com/yiisoft/yii-db-migration А то yii-security и yii-core требуют yii-string v3, а в миграциях требуется 1.0, т.е. с yii3 не совместим пакет 🙁

I don't prefer to avoid dependencies that will break bc simply because they don't understand the purpose for which they were created.

and personally to have a getValue() method that returns a simple key I don't use a helper I do it directly with the array.

getValueByPath better reflects the purpose than getValue and obviously resolve your task.
